Leaving the tourist trails far behind, you’ll connect to the land on a deeper level, walking between camps and sleeping beneath the stars with only canvas between you and the night. Intrepid explorers can also summit Kilimanjaro, gallop across savannahs on horseback alongside migrating herds, track rhinos on foot, or sail traditional dhows around Zanzibar.

PLANNING

NEED TO KNOW

6-10 days for mobile walking safaris and horse-riding expeditions, with an option for a Zanzibar add-on. Allow 5-9 days for Kilimanjaro treks.

Moderate to hard, depending on the expedition type. Expect to walk up to 5 hours a day on mobile safaris. Kilimanjaro treks are challenging, so good fitness is required.

June – October (long dry season) and January – March (short dry season) are best for walking expeditions, horse riding safaris, Kilimanjaro treks, and Zanzibar beaches.
